Welcome to St Lawrence Summer Club

All the information you need to know to take part in this years special “Follow the Leader” Family Summer Club can be found on the website below. Will you join us for two weeks of games, crafts and fun?

A Family Summer Club for 2022

This year we are running in person sessions during the first 2 weeks of August, with activities both in church and on our Barn Field. Parents/Carers will need to stay for the duration of the sessions as this is a club for all the family (we do not have enough volunteers to run a children only club) and we want you to have the opportunity to make great memories together!

After the fun of our socially distant summer clubs in 2020 and 2021, we are now fully back in person! We want our local children and families to have an amazing summer with plenty of events and activities to take part in without having to travel further afield.

Read below for more information and hopefully all your questions answered. If you have a question not answered below please contact rachel.ridler@centenaryproject.org.uk

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Our summer club sessions will run on the following dates:

Week One
On the Lake” – Monday 1st Aug 1-3pm in church
In the Town” – Wednesday 3rd Aug 1-3pm in church
Water Fun DayFriday 5th Aug 10-2pm on the Barn Field

Week Two
Up the Mountain” – Monday 8th Aug 1-3pm in church
In the Courtyard” – Wednesday 10th Aug 1-3pm in church
On the Beach” Fun DayFriday 12th Aug 10-2pm on the Barn Field

You are welcome to attend all or just some of the sessions over the two weeks. Everyone who will be attending needs to register, whether they are an adult or a child. Registration is free but you can pay an optional £5 for a t-shirt in your team colour to wear during the summer club sessions.

WHO IS IT FOR?

There will be something for most ages, from toddlers up to Secondary School age, but it will probably appeal most to Primary School aged children. You do not have to be a part of St Lawrence Church or consider yourself a Christian to take part, it is open to everyone! In the church we will have zones for Under 5’s (the Yellow Team), 5-7’s (the Green Team) and 7-11’s (the Blue Team). Parents should stay with their youngest children during the session where possible, with the older children still being supervised by them overall but able to go off to age appropriate activities around the building.

YELLOW TEAM – 0-5’s – this team is perfect for our Little Lions, for those who attend nursery or reception at school. There will be extra toys in this area and simple crafts/worksheets to take home.

GREEN TEAM – 5-7’s – this team is perfect for those in Key Stage 1, for those who can read and write at a basic level. There will be easy worksheets and puzzles for these children to complete, as well as lots of fun and games in their area.

BLUE TEAM – 7-11’s – this team is perfect for those in Key Stage 2 who can read and write well. There will be more challenging crafts, puzzles and activities in this area nd worksheets that can be completed on the day.

YOUNG LEADERS – are you a young person over 11 who would like to take part and support the children during summer club? Then you can register for a RED t-shirt and join our team of helpers.

GROWN UPS – parents will need to stay with their children during the session, but if you are willing to be a bit more invovled and volunteer to man crafts or be a team leader, please do get in touch with rachel.ridler@centenaryproject.org.uk. Grown ups can order a RED t-shirt.

WHAT IS THE THEME?

The theme this year is “Follow the Leader”, and we’ll be looking at the character of Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, as he decides whether Jesus is someone worth following. There’ll be Messy Church style crafts, games, songs and team challenges.

WHAT WILL I GET WHEN I REGISTER?

When you register you will be sent out all the information needed to take part in the club, including consent forms, on the day directions and links to songs you can learn before coming.

We will not be putting together a welcome pack this year, as you will receive everything you need at each session. But don’t forget to order your t-shirt if you want one!

HOW DO I REGISTER

You can sign everyone from your family up using the link below:

WHAT IF I CAN’T AFFORD IT?

Registration for this year’s summer club is free thanks to funding from the Tesco Community Grants last year. There is an optional payment of £5 for a t-shirt in your team’s colours with the “Follow the leader” logo on. If you cannot afford this and would really like your child to have one, please do get in touch (rachel.ridler@centenaryproject.org.uk) and we will see what we can do.
