Welcome to St Lawrence Summer Club

All the information you need to know to take part in this years special “Summer of Science” club can be found on the website below. Will you join our lab and experiments?

2021 has landed……….

It’s a bit different to 2020, but we also know that summer probably won’t be totally normal! After the success of our Socially Distant Staycation Summer Club last year, we are launching another summer club for 2021 so that our local children can have another amazing summer! It will be a hub of activities, games and ideas for families to use over the 6 weeks holiday, both at home, on zoom, and out in our local community. This year we are also hoping to host “Family Thursdays” where our Barn Field (or church building) will be open for the day to drop in and take part in fun activities together.

Watch this space as more information is added including cost, how to sign up, what you’ll get and what the key dates/times/activities are.

Get an email to say when new activities are posted on here.

Each child will need to register before 5th July to take part. The cost is £10 per child, which includes a holiday club bag full of everything they’ll need to take part (see below for more info) that can be picked up from St Lawrence Church at the beginning of the summer holidays on the 24th July.

There will be videos and content shared via YouTube and on this website which will follow that week’s theme, with activities and challenges for the whole family to take part in. All you need to do is pick up your pack and follow along online!

There will also be optional Zoom sessions every Tuesday for children to dig deeper into that week’s topic, and then we will hopefully host “Family Thursdays” on the Barn Field each week, for all ages to come down, explore the theme and spend time together.

There will be something each week for most ages, from toddlers up to Secondary School age, but it will probably appeal most to Primary School aged children. You do not have to be a part of St Lawrence Church or consider yourself a Christian to take part, it is open to everyone!

The theme is “Science and Faith”, and we’ll be looking at how science and faith can work together, and at different aspects of scientific discovery. Each week we’ll have a different science topic (space, animals, robots). There’ll be Messy Church style craft suggestions, lego challenges, experiments, songs and dance moves to learn.

There’ll be interactive elements too, where you can submit videos and photos of what you’ve been up to and be included in our Sunday Shout Out video! Our congregation will be setting up a “Find the Missing Element” trail around the village for you all to take part in too, with certificates for those who complete it.

All children who register will receive a club pack, containing*:

  • Logo bag
  • Lab Book/Fact File with activities to complete each week on the zoom sessions
  • 5 weeks worth of experiment packs with extra challenges and activities to complete at home (contents may include litmus paper, air dry clay, cress seeds, cotton wool, ink pads, split pins, printed resources)
  • Holiday Club T-Shirt
  • “Find the Missing Element” trail sheet

*Exact contents may vary depending on if extra funding is received and numbers signed up

When booking opens, you will be able to sign your children up at the following link via our official ticket partner, ticketlab. Make sure you register each child taking part so they receive their own pack.

We know that COVID-19 has affected lots of families financially, so if you feel like you can’t afford the £10 registration fee, please contact rachel.ridler@centenaryproject.org.uk as we have some pre-paid places available for those who need it. The £10 registration fee will cover the cost of the club packs, so please do pay if you can.

If you would like to sponsor a place for another child so they can take part please visit our crowdfunding page here.
